HOMER, the University of Connecticut Libraries OPAC, (online catalog) is having issues today. WorldCat can be used as a substitute for HOMER book and serial holdings, to take pressure off the system, while it is being repaired.
Please access WorldCat from the UCHC library home page. http://library.uchc.edu/

Subject: HOMER Issues -- HOMER DOWN AT 9:30AM TUESDAY.
Folks:
We are currently experiencing hardware failure on HOMER.
The short
story is that one of HOMER's system discs has gone bad. Our plan is to
back up the current system disk and attempt to move its contents to a
non-failing disk. HOMER will require two outages: HOMER
needs to be
brought down while the system disk is being backed up, and
it needs to
be brought down again later when we switch HOMER over to run its system
from the non-failing disk.
At 9:30AM today, I will bring HOMER down to begin the system disk
backup. The system will be down for approximately one hour while the
backup is run. I will try to bring the system back up so Library staff
and the public have access to it while we prepare the new system disk
and configure HOMER to use it. I plan on having another
outage early
this afternoon (tentatively scheduled for 2:00PM) when we reboot HOMER
to use the new system disk. The second outage, if all goes well,
should be no more than 15 minutes.
Quick synopsis of planned outages:
1) 9:30 - 10:30 AM
2) 2:00 - 2:15 PM (tentative)
Thank you for your patience in this matter.
Regards,
Steve Wieda
