eMedicine upgrade scheduled for Oct.9-10

IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION
eMedicine Clinical Knowledge Base, Institutional Edition

Our new user interface (UI) is scheduled for release the weekend of October 9–10, 2004, and will be available by 12:01 am Eastern Daylight Time (05:01 am GMT), October 10, 2004. This upgrade features a new design and color scheme, as well as easier navigation. Many other new features also enhance the user experience, including our new Guideline Wizard, Resource Centers, Drug Recalls and Alerts, and Advanced Search functions. We conducted extensive research with focus groups and believe you will immediately see the benefits of this new UI.

TEMPORARY SERVICE DELAYS

Temporary service denials or delays may occur for several hours during the new UI launch.

SEVERAL IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THIS EDITION

SECURITY - In response to the need for greater institutional security, users will be required to know their account numbers if you do not provide a direct link from your system or if they access the system from a remote computer. Users who have previously accessed the system will have cookies on their computers and will not need to reenter the account number.

In the past, users could enter the name of the institution to find the account number. Now, if they do not know it, they will be asked to contact the system administrator in order to gain access to the subscription.

To find your account number, log in to the Administrator Center. Your account number, along with other important account information, is displayed on this page. Your CME/CE discount code (IDC code) is located on the CME/CE page. The number after the IDC- is your account number. For example, IDC-0001 means your account number is 0001.

If you need assistance to access your subscription or to establish a direct link, call us toll-free at 866-247-3633 or direct at 402-341-3222. Please inform all users of this change and provide authorized users with your account number.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

PAGE VIEWS WILL DIFFER - Previously, a new window opened whenever a user clicked on a new link or page within eMedicine. This often slowed response time if users did not go back and close them. With the new interface, users should click the Back button on their browsers to retrace their steps.
