ePocrates FAQs (July 2004)

What is ePocrates?

ePocrates is a popular drug reference with three major components:
· ePocrates Rx Online (Internet-based product)
· ePocrates Rx Pro (premium PDA drug reference), and
· ePocrates Dx (customized version of Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult which integrates with the ePocrates Rx drug database)

What ePocrates components does UCHC library subscribe to?

UCHC library subscribes to ePocrates Rx Online with two simultaneous users.
Users can search this Internet-based database to check drug interactions, view and print patient instructions for medications, view pill pictures and search for codes and abbreviations.

How to access ePocrates Rx Online?

From the library’s home page at http://library.uchc.edu, it can be currently accessed from any of the four different places:
· Click on ePocrates link right under “Databases” on the home page
· Click on “Quick Links” pull-down menu on the home page and look for ePocrates
· Click on ePocrates under “What’s New” on the home page
· Click on “Databases” and follow the links to look for ePocrates
(Use Proxy Services to access it remotely)

If I want the PDA version of ePocrates, what do I do?


UCHC students (except for the third-year medical students), residents and faculty can receive a 50% discount off the retail price (current retail price is $59.99 for one-year subscription) on any versions of this popular resource by using a special discount code. How do the third-year medical students get their PDA versions?

· Email back the filled-out Application Form to Hongjie Wang
