Journals migrating platforms in May
2012 – Please plan ahead for Annals of Internal Medicine and JAMA &
Archives.
Several
e-journals are migrating platforms in May 2012, and as with all platform
migrations, there are always glitches, which often result in downtime for
electronic access. Please plan
ahead for these 2 migrations, so that you are well prepared for classroom work,
ongoing research work and grant applications, as well as ongoing clinical work.
On May 10, the Annals of Internal
Medicine will migrate away from Highwire Press and move to Silverchair. The new URL to connect to the new platform will remain the
same as the old URL; however, it would be wise to expect non-access on that day
and perhaps for several days. Please plan ahead and download any articles that you may
require in electronic format. http://www.annals.org/ The library does have a current running print subscription
to take care of urgent user needs should an outage occur. There is alternate electronic access as
part of EbscoHost Academic SearchPremier – however, access to the most recent
issues are always 2-3 issues behind. Annals First Look is
also not included at Ebsco. Annals First Look allows subscribers to
receive Early Release article notifications and the table of contents (eTOC)
for new and upcoming issues of Annals.
Users will have to re-subscribe to the new alerts features once the new
platform at Silverchair is running.
On May 14, JAMA & Archives is
re-launched by the AMA as: The JAMA Network.
The new URL link is: http://jamanetwork.com/ As with the Annals of Internal Medicine, this migration from
Highwire to Silverchair on May 14 may have glitches, so be prepared. If
you think you will need electronic articles on May 14 and for several days
afterward, plan ahead as platform migrations do not always go smoothly. Please note that the library does have a
current print subscription to JAMA for urgent needs by users. Users will have to re-subscribe to the new alerts
features once the new platform at Silverchair is running.
