As you know, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of legislation that led to the founding of the UConn Health Center. In fact, it’s been great to see so many people sporting the 50th anniversary lanyards and badge-holders that were shared during last fall’s EXPO event.
A new website dedicated solely to the 50th anniversary was just launched, http://celebrate50.uchc.edu. Throughout the year ahead, we will be adding more information to the site, including video messages from some of our own UConn Health Center “historians.” Be sure to visit the site throughout the year! Also, you will soon notice banners inside and outside the UConn Health Center campus bearing our festive 50th anniversary logo.
We have much to celebrate. Thanks to the wisdom and hard work of many men and women, over many years, the UConn Health Center was transformed from a bold proposal in 1961 into a vibrant and integrated academic medical center in 2011.
If you have a story, photo or a memory you would like to share about the history of the UConn Health Center, please email celebrate50@uchc.edu.
